Ikebana opens door to Japan

Ikebana, ikenobo, the process of learning ikebana for a beginner, the process by which ikebana study opened the door for me to a fascination with Japan, its history and culture. The blog is about the history and context of ikebana within Japan as well as my own learning process and experience with ikebana in the USA.

About this Japan blogger

I am a writer by profession. I taught writing for many years as a university professor and am now retired from New Mexico State University. I also have taught English as a Foreign Language. I work part-time as a freelance writer and study ikenobo with Dan dell’ Agnese, president of the Colorado Ikenobo Society. I am a member of Ikebana International, Chapter 41, and also of the Colorado Ikenobo Society. I also belong to the Japan America Society of New Mexico and study the Japanese language.
