VERMILLION AND ONE NIGHTS

Blog by a Japanese native, writing texts on Japanese cinema, history and more.
Topics are mostly about classic Japanese cinema prior to 1970s. Films of Ozu, Kurosawa, Naruse and Kinoshita are featured of course, but rarely seen classics are discussed more frequently. I try to place these films in their historical context, to provide readers with more social background of the works.
Also, news articles related to Japanese classic films are posted occasionally.

About this Japan blogger

A native Japanese living in Kanagawa, Japan. An engineer by trade, a film aficionado by night.
Going through mid-life crisis, I cannot laugh at mid-fifties salary-man movies because they are too real.
