I am an Asian American who is not Japanese.  I was born and reared in Virginia and left the States after high school in 1999.  I am currently 30 years old and just started living indefinitely in Japan around September 2011.  I am married to a Japanese national and we have a 4 year old daughter.  I currently work as an EFL teacher at a daycare that my daughter also attends and I also work at a kid’s eikaiwa school on the side.  I have actually been teaching English and being an American expatriate since 2003 but it was in Taiwan and not in Japan.
