“I’m an American who has been living here for more than 8 years. Has it really been that long?
The word “sixmats” is the literal translation for rokujo, 六畳, the size of my first apartment when I came to Tokyo. I lived in Tokyo for 4 years before moving to northern Japan with my wife to take a job teaching in an elementary school. If you haven’t been to Tohoku, you should come up. There is some amazing scenery here.”
