New Blog: Viva  la Highstreet!

Welcome to my world of high-street fashion in Japan!!!!!

The reason nah reasons I started this blog is firstly because this blog is sort of an amalgamation of my three hobbies

  1. clothes and shoes and make up and  bags
  2. clicking pictures of others as well as  mine
  3. writing…ok so I have dabbled in a little bit of professional writing for a newspaper in India. I was a teenager that time but so what!!!I still carry my only claim to fame aka my articles with me on all the job interviews.

Secondly though even I am a hotelier by profession and have an MBA in the making(I am finally done with my final exams) I still cannot work in Japan because I don’t know the Japanese language(learning though)…so I have plenty of time at my disposal!!!

Thirdly I find my style of dressing very boring, no actually very basic and blah!So I am trying to take more risks and dress more with an edge slowly and steadily. The whole blogging community is my inspiration.

New Blog: Japanese Streets

Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s, photo-journalist Kjeld Duits started JAPANESE STREETS on November 22, 2002.

This makes JS one of the first fashion blogs on the net, and the very first to cover Japanese street fashion. JS uploads many thousands of photos every year and regularly publishes interviews with designers and artists and reviews of cool shops. Since 2005, JS also covers the Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo. The site additionally offers a simple fashion directory with information about Japanese fashion magazines, fashion brands and fashion schools.

About the author of this Japan blog

“From the USA, Washington State. I was attracted to the unusual idea of an American studying in Tokyo and came in 2004, later graduating from the the world’s 2nd-ranked fashion school, Bunka Fashion College.
I currently am a fashion editor/journalist/translator for such media houses as The Japan Times, VOGUE Girl, Numero TOKYO, Kyodo News, Visa Style Guide, RACKED, Superfuture and TRANOI Magazine. On top of this, I update almost daily at my blog TokyoFashionDiaries.com, making there never be a day I don’t writesomething about fashion.

I am often called “Lady Gaga” due to my penchant for hats and creative fashion, but I owe my style eye to Isabella Blow, my alpha icon for always and ever. My unique taste has gotten me jobs as stylist, where I have created and styled costumes for musicians’ music videos, actresses such as Rinko Kikuchi, and brand catalogs as well. I also take commissions in art/creative direction and design collaborations. I often see myself going more in this direction in the future.
I wear many hats, both literally and figuratively, and Tokyo is the perfect home to realize my aspirations.”
