About this Japan blogger

Renae Lucas-Hall is an Australian born British novelist and writer. She spent years studying French, Italian and Japanese because she loves languages and she always wanted to be an interpreter, a teacher or a writer. Renae later graduated from university with a degree in Japanese language and culture. She went on to live in Tokyo for two years, where she taught English. Renae has continued to work with the Japanese for many years. Ten years ago, Renae also completed an Advanced Diploma of Business. Over the past twenty years, Renae has enjoyed visiting Japan many times for work or as a tourist. She continues to love reading and writing anything and everything about Japan. New Blog: Just Another Day in Japan

A  general Japan blog about the language and culture from the perspective of an American who lived and worked near Osaka for three years. The weird, the mundane, and all that in between.

About this Japan blogger

My name is Paul, but I also go by Blue Shoe or Blue Kutsu. I’m an American originally from New York, currently living and working in Maryland in the U.S. My first real exposure to Japanese culture, aside from eating sushi and doing some judo as a kid, was studying Japanese in college. I studied abroad in Tokyo twice, graduated, and then went to work as an ALT on the JET Program in Hyogo prefecture near Osaka. I was there for 3 years and am now doing my best to build a life here in the States and retain as much of a connection to Japan as I can.

I started this blog back in July of 2009 to crowd the internet with yet one more niche blog about Japan. Along with several periodic contributors and guest bloggers, I’m doing my best to bring you a variety of Japan-related content on a regular to semi-regular basis.

New Blog: ITSUMO JAPAN

Itsumo Japan is a blog all about Japan, the culture, the arts, the language, the food, everything.
I hope that Itsumo Japan will become a useful resource of all things Japanese, especially places that you can experience Japanese culture in the UK and will be helpful for anyone that loves Japan as much as I do.

About this Japan blogger

I love Japan. The culture, the arts, the language, the food, everything.
Trapped in Leeds, West Yorkshire – a million miles from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo or the history and tradition of Kyoto – I get my Japan fix by hunting out a little bit of Japan here in the UK (or anywhere else for that matter!) and online. I’m always on the lookout for Japanese restaurants, shops that sell Japanese products, museums with Japanese exhibits and fun Japan-related events.
Ever since my first trip to Japan I have been learning Japanese, I especially love learning kanji, I am currently taking night classes once a week and practicing with a Japanese friend.

New Blog: The ExPat Returneth

The ExPat Returneth (A Place to Express What You Miss About Living Abroad) was born from the reverse culture shock and homesickness that my family and I felt after moving back to the United States from Japan.  Although some readers have lived in other countries, my experience is about what I miss about living in Japan. I also share the Japanese recipes I cook at home. Some posts are about cultural experiences, others about food, and some guest posts cover the lament many returned expats feel about missing their time in Japan.

Larissa has lived in Yokohama, Kameoka (Kyoto), and most recently, Nagoya, Japan. Most of her daughters’ conversations start with “remember when we lived in Japan and …” They fondly remember that Saturdays did not include trips to Home Depot, but when you did go to the hardware store, they had pets.
One of those “writer moms,” Larissa’s newest Cherry Tucker Mystery, PORTRAIT OF A DEAD GUY, will be released August 28, 2012. She lives in Georgia with her husband, young daughters, and Biscuit, a Cairn Terror (terrier). Check her website at larissareinhart.com.
